What can I do if I allocate more than three learners per group?
In the event of more than three learners per group, guide learners on ways to be equal, making time within the group to ensure everyone gets their share of hands-on learning. You can also assign the responsibility of monitoring equal making time and an opportunity to voice opinions to one team member.

Activity

3-5

Introduce the ground rules, lesson norms, and team roles to students. You can check out our lesson approach if it’s your first time conducting an Eddy lesson.

6

Introduce learners to the different stages of the plant life cycle by asking them, “Have you ever wondered how something as simple as a tiny seed can grow into a towering tree or a colorful flower?”

  • Provide them a brief description of the stages of plant life cycle with the help of an educational video (Youtube video link:Plant Life Cycle)

7-13

Familiarize the learners with the concept of the plant life cycle and its various distinct stages.

15

After introducing different stages of the plant life cycle to the learners, engage them in a virtual experiment of Germination and Seedling of Green Gram lentils. Ask learners to use the link https://www.olabs.edu.in/?sub=74&brch=31&sim=249&cnt=4 and perform a virtual experiment to see the process of germination and seedling in Green Gram lentils.

16

After experiment Ask learners to fill their before and after experiment knowledge and observation in their Student’s Handout worksheet pg1.

Icon
What if learners are not forthcoming with responses?
Ensure that you maintain a safe space in the classroom for learners to be confident in case of wrong answers. Time and again, declare that it is a judgment-free zone and that every response is valuable. For simple “yes” and “no” responses, encourage learners to use a simple “Thumbs up, thumbs down” response style.
Icon
For learners who require more support:
Simplify the activity by offering a clear, step-by-step guide for learners to conduct the experiment. Educators can then assist learners in completing the observation sheet after the experiment is carried out.
Icon
For advanced learners:
Task them to select a specific plant species and meticulously document its life cycle stages, considering each stage's environmental influences, growth rates, and unique characteristics. This multifaceted exploration will deepen their understanding and nurture critical thinking, research prowess, and communication skills as they present their findings.

Activity

18

Introduce the main activity to the learners by asking “How do they imagine infusing life into these stages through the magic of a 3D simulation?” and what if they are able to create a 3D simulation of the different stages of the plant life cycle?

19

Now Introduce the learners to the Assemblr Edu, where they will create the 3D simulation of the lifecycle of the plants.

19

Prior to commencing their work on Assemblr Edu, learners are encouraged to revisit the distinct stages of the plant life cycle. This recap of growth and adaptation involves completing Activity 2 in the Student's Handout.

20

Now, Learners will start creating their 3D simulation with the help of Assemblr Edu. Begin by guiding learners to set up their accounts if they don't have one already. Depending on your learners' familiarity with this tool, you should guide learners through the following steps mentioned in the teaching deck.

21-28

Introduction to Assemblr Edu

  • Get students to navigate on their devices to
  • https://edu.assemblrworld.com/
  • Guide your students through the process of creating a project.
  • If it’s your first time using Assemblr Edu, please refer to the tech tutorial here.

What if students face problems navigating the platform?
If learners struggle with navigating the platform, offer alternative learning options, such as additional resources(Tech tutorials/video tutorials) or assignments that align with the Assemblr Edu project's learning objectives.
Icon
What if some of my learners encounter challenges while creating a 3D simulation on Assemblr Edu?
Suppose some learners find creating a 3D simulation on Assemblr Edu challenging. In that case, we'll offer additional guidance, step-by-step tutorials, and personalized assistance to ensure everyone can successfully navigate the process and achieve their learning goals.
Icon
For learners who require more support:
Scaffold their learning by breaking down the 3D simulation into discrete steps. Then, the educator can use relevant examples (e.g., video recommendations on YouTube).
Icon
For advanced learners:
1.Select Ecosystem: Choose a specific ecosystem to focus on (e.g., rainforest, desert, ocean). Research and Data Gathering: Conduct in-depth research to gather data on the ecosystem's components, species interactions, and environmental factors. 2.Simulation Design: Utilize Assemblr Edu's advanced features to construct an interactive 3D simulation of the chosen ecosystem. Include various species, habitats, and dynamic elements like weather changes. Realistic Interactions: Implement natural ecological interactions such as predation, competition, and symbiosis. Ensure that species' behaviors align with their real-life counterparts. 3.Environmental Variables: Incorporate adjustable variables like temperature, humidity, and human impact to observe the effects on the ecosystem over time. 4.Narration and Explanation: Add educational narration or text boxes to explain the ecosystem's dynamics and how variable changes impact the balance.

Ask the learners to share their creations on a Padlet link.

31

Consolidate learning and invite students to share reflection questions.Sample answers for two of the questions are given below:

1.Go for a walk outside and find real plants. Can you identify which stage they are in?

After venturing outdoors and observing natural plants, I can confidently identify their stages. By closely examining the plants' features and growth patterns, I can distinguish whether they are in the seedling stage, actively germinating, or flourishing in their mature form. This hands-on experience of connecting theoretical knowledge with real-life examples enhances my understanding of plant life cycles and strengthens my ability to recognize their various stages in nature.

2.How has the process of creating a 3D simulation contributed to your enhanced understanding of the plant life cycle?

Creating a 3D simulation has deepened my understanding of the plant life cycle. I had to thoroughly analyze each stage to accurately depict it, which enhanced my knowledge of the processes and transitions involved. This experiential learning made the lifecycle's complexity more tangible and engaging, providing a dynamic perspective on how plants evolve from seeds to maturity.

Icon
How can the experience of creating 3D simulations enhance learners' retention of the plant life cycle stages compared to traditional methods?
Creating 3D simulations significantly boosts learners' retention of plant life cycle stages compared to traditional methods. These simulations engage multiple senses, forging strong links between theory and visual representation. The interactive process fosters critical thinking and analytical skills while offering a more comprehensive and lasting learning experience than static visuals or text-based methods.
Icon
Does observing plants at various life cycle stages during an outdoor walk effectively connect theoretical knowledge with real-life observations in the lesson?
Observing plants in different life cycle stages during an outdoor walk undeniably forges a strong connection between theoretical knowledge and real-life observations in the lesson. Witnessing the concepts learned in class manifest in the natural world reinforces the understanding of plant growth processes. This hands-on experience makes the theoretical content tangible, enhancing the overall learning experience and providing a lasting impression of the intricate stages of plant development.
