Slide 8, 9

Introducing learners mystery behind the transformation of plant: From a seed to a seedling and then a plant.

Slide ImageSlide Image

Slide 10, 11

Familiarize the learners with the concept of the plant life cycle and its various distinct stages.

  • Seed
  • Germination & Seedling
  • Growing to Maturity
Slide Image

Slide 12

Introduce the Seed stage to the learners "The seed stage is like the baby stage for plants. It's the very beginning of a plant's life, just like when a baby human is born".

Slide Image

Slide 13

Describe Germination & Seedling stage to the learners where:

Germination - The Start of Life for a Plant

Germination is like the plant's birthday. It's when a seed comes to life and starts growing into a new plant. Imagine it as the moment when a baby plant wakes up from a long nap.

The Seedling Stage - Baby Plant Grows

Once the plant has woken up and started to grow, it enters the seedling stage. Think of this as the baby stage for plants.

Slide Image

Slide 14

Introduce Growing to Maturity stage to the learners "When a plant reaches maturity, it's like being a grown-up. It can make its own seeds and continue the circle of life. Some plants live for just one season, while others can live for many years, growing bigger and stronger with each passing year".

Slide ImageSlide Image

Slide 15, 16

After introducing different stages of the plant life cycle to the learners, engage them in a virtual experiment of Germination and Seedling of Green Gram lentils. Ask learners to use the link https://www.olabs.edu.in/?sub=74&brch=31&sim=249&cnt=4 and perform a virtual experiment to see the process of germination and seedling in Green Gram lentils.

What if learners are not forthcoming with responses?
Ensure that you maintain a safe space in the classroom for learners to be confident in case of wrong answers. Time and again, declare that it is a judgment-free zone and that every response is valuable. For simple “yes” and “no” responses, encourage learners to use a simple “Thumbs up, thumbs down” response style.
icon
For learners who require more support:
Simplify the activity by offering a clear, step-by-step guide for learners to conduct the experiment. Educators can then assist learners in completing the observation sheet after the experiment is carried out.
icon
For advanced learners:
Task them to select a specific plant species and meticulously document its life cycle stages, considering each stage's environmental influences, growth rates, and unique characteristics. This multifaceted exploration will deepen their understanding and nurture critical thinking, research prowess, and communication skills as they present their findings.

Slide Image

Slide 18

Introduce the main activity to the learners by asking “How do they imagine infusing life into these stages through the magic of a 3D simulation?” and what if they are able to create a 3D simulation of the different stages of the plant life cycle?

Slide Image

Slide 19

Now introduce the learners to the Assemblr Edu, where they will create the 3D simulation of the lifecycle of the plants.

Prior to commencing their work on Assemblr Edu, learners are encouraged to revisit the distinct stages of the plant life cycle. This recap of growth and adaptation involves completing Activity 2 in the Student's Handout.
