With this lesson, learners will dive into the minds of characters, unravel their thoughts, decisions, and their impact on the narrative. Through character analysis, they will step into their shoes of the protagonists, explore their motivations, and even reshape their fate within the story. Get ready to embark on a quest of understanding, analysis, and creative exploration!

Lesson Overview

Opening Activity	Learners will think of the character whose shoes they wish to step into and the reason behind the same and then discuss their responses.	Understand the concept of character analysis by identifying a character whose perspective they wish to take.
Main Activity	Learners will use Jamboard to do a character analysis of any character from any story. The character analysis will include the traits of the character, the decisions of the character, their development and growth, and their significance to the theme of the story.	Analyze the chosen characters’ attributes, decisions, and developmental arcs. Construct a character analysis that demonstrates the learners’ understanding and synthesis of the character’s role.
Closing Activity	Learners will think of alternate acts that their chosen character could engage in and its impact on the plot.	Formulate alternative actions for their selected character and evaluate the potential consequences of these choices on the storyline.

Pre-Lesson Preparation

Like all lessons on Eddy, this lesson follows a specific approach. If this is your first time implementing an Eddy lesson, check out our 'How to set up an Eddy Classroom' for more information.
Prepare for necessary technology/hardware in advance.

8	Now that the learners know what character analysis is, introduce them to the elements of character analysis: traits, actions, development, and significance to the theme. You can use the explanation mentioned in the deck.

Let the learners know that they will be engaging in an activity where they will be doing a character analysis of any character from any story of their choice and they will use Jamboard to construct it.

Guide the learners on how to get started with Jamboard. Remember to let them know that they must have a Google account to access Jamboard. Provide them the link to the sample Jamboard that they can refer to while doing their own character analysis.

Introduce the learners to their roles in the team. If this is your first time conducting an Eddy lesson and want more clarity on the roles, refer to the Eddy Approach.

Once the learners are done with constructing a character analysis, instruct them to ideate for alternative actions and decisions that the character could engage in and how that would change the story/plot. They can use a new frame in the same Jamboard to present it.
